AINOW Society Launches AI Balkans, a New Regional Platform for Artificial Intelligence News and Insight
AINOW Society is proud to announce the launch of AI Balkans, a new regional platform dedicated to artificial intelligence news, research, tools, policy developments, and practical insight from across the Balkans.
AI Balkans was created with a simple but important mission: to give the region a dedicated space where artificial intelligence is followed, explained, and connected to the realities of our societies, institutions, businesses, educators, and citizens.
Artificial intelligence is no longer a distant technology topic. It is already shaping education, public services, media, healthcare, business, research, and everyday digital life. Across the Balkans, governments, universities, companies, civil society organizations, and innovators are beginning to respond to this transformation. However, many of these developments remain fragmented, underreported, or disconnected from the wider regional conversation.
AI Balkans aims to change that.
A Regional AI Hub With Local Context
The platform will cover AI-related developments from North Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and the wider Western Balkan and Southeast European region.
Its focus will not only be on global AI trends, but on how those trends affect our region directly. This includes national AI strategies, AI regulation, education initiatives, startup activity, research, digital transformation, public sector innovation, AI ethics, and the growing need for AI literacy.
For AINOW Society, this is a natural next step in our work. Since our founding, we have focused on AI literacy, education, ethical technology use, research, and public awareness. With AI Balkans, we are expanding that mission into a regional knowledge and media platform that can inform, connect, and support the AI ecosystem around us.
Why AI Balkans Matters
The Balkans are entering an important moment in the development of artificial intelligence. Countries in the region are beginning to connect to European AI infrastructure, prepare AI-related laws and strategies, introduce AI tools in education and public services, and explore new opportunities in startups, industry, and research.
At the same time, the region faces real challenges. Many institutions still lack clear AI knowledge. Businesses often do not know where to begin. Educators need practical support. Citizens are exposed to misinformation, deepfakes, algorithmic systems, and automation without always having the tools to understand them.
AI Balkans will help bridge this gap by making AI developments easier to follow, easier to understand, and more connected to the regional context.
